OUR POLICIES

We are working to support bold policy visions
to solve some of Utah’s most pressing environmental problems.

Prosperity 2030

Our policy framework to reduce emissions along the Wasatch Front by 50% by 2030.

The Prosperity 2030 policy plan addresses emissions from four main sources:

- Area Sources

- Mobile Sources

- Non-Road Sources

- Point Sources

HB 220 - Emission Reduction Ammendments

During the 2023 legislative session, we wrote and passed HB 220, the most impactful air quality bill in Utah in decades.

Representing Phase 1 of Prosperity 2030, HB 220 set a standard on halogen emissions from industrial sources, specifically bromine pollution, which increases the Wasatch Front’s winter-time pollution up to 25%.

HB 411 - Community Renewable Energy Program

The Community Renewable Energy Program is an initiative for Rocky Mountain Power to supply net-100% renewable energy by 2030 to residents and businesses in participating communities.

Transitioning communities to renewable energy, and away from Rocky Mountain Power's dirty fleet, is the single most significant step we can take to reduce carbon emissions in Utah.

The Stewardship Utah Foundation is actively working with municipalities and stakeholders to advance the program and add new communities.

Rural Addressing Program

While registering thousands of voters on the Navajo Nation, our team discovered up to 18% of Native American voters were registered in the wrong precinct — making it nearly impossible for them to cast their ballots for the correct candidate.

The main cause? A lack of physical addresses.

Using Plus Codes, we created addresses for over 2,900 homes and over 7,000 Navajo Nation voters.

Arizona Voter Registration

Across the country, Indigenous communities are standing up, raising their voices, and voting to bring forth long-awaited changes to their communities.

In addition to working on the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation, our team implements a voter registration program on the Arizona portion of the Navajo Nation.

Despite challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic during the program's inaugural year, the Arizona expansion team registered over 5,672 voters across the Navajo Nation using mail, radio, digital, and drive-through voter registration events — and that number grows each year!

In 2024, this program is continuing in partnership with Wingbeat 88 and Natives Outdoors. This year, we have a goal of registering and mobilizing at least 12,500 new voters ahead of the 2024 general election. In the 2020 Presidential race, Arizona was decided by only 10,457 votes - one of the closest margins in the country. By investing in people over platforms, the program creates content that built infrastructure, shifts the narrative, and resonates deeply with our intended audience.
